Egypt: No One Interested?!

No One Interested?!

Nice booth and great display BUT I think this is the most deserted place at Natas Fair 2011. The Egyptian Revolution 2011 which started about a month ago on 25 Jan 2011 is scaring away every tourist to visit Egypt's 5,000 years of history and civilization, pyramids and the famous Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo.

Tohoko - Trip to a Snowy Wonderland

We only had 4 days in Tohoku for the snow and onsens(hot springs). In retrospect, it was an ambitious plan to try to experience both autumn leaves and winter snow in one trip to Japan.

We started off with Mt. Fuji then Kyoto for autumn leaves. Tohoku was the second leg and Tokyo would be our last leg for shopping at Harajuku(Burberry Blue Label Flagship Store) and Shibuya.

The entire Japan Autumn/Winter trip took us 13 days and we probably travelled over a thousand km on the Shinkansen.

It was late November and we were very lucky to get lots of snow at Hanamaki and Tazawako.

Siem Reap Nightlife

So what do you do in Siem Reap after visiting Angkor Wat?

You go to Siem Reap city where you can find the Pub Street near the Old Market and the Siem Reap Night Market.

Siem Reap Night Market

The Siem Reap night market was my first stop. After one full day of walking through 9 temples, my feet were arching! I decided to try out the foot massage at the night market. After the 60-min massage, I felt a lot better.

Then it was time for dinner. I walk around the Old Market area and found a restaurant with a name in Chinese. The taste was good and the price - cheap.

Dinner was rice with lots of curry and fried tofu...

Jetstar Cheap Flights to Ho Chi Minh City

Jetstar Singapore Friday Fare Frenzy began about 4 hours ago at 11 am Singapore time. The Jetstar cheap flights to Ho Chi Minh from Singapore is really cheap!

Only SGD54 for a return air ticket to Ho Chi Minh City!

Not the Best Time to Travel to Ho Chi Minh during the Jetstar Offer Period

I was about to book 2 tickets when I remembered that September might be a very wet month in Vietnam southern capital. In fact, when I checked the numerous weather forecast websites and travel blogs on Ho Chi Minh City weather during the month of September, I then realized why Jetstar Singapore is offering cheap airfares to Ho Chi Minh for travel period between 14 September to 4 October.

Final decision: NO Go!

I would rather pay a bit more and have fine weather to practice my street photography.

Siem Reap's Lesser Known Temples

Siem Reap offers more than the Angkor Wat temple which is currently being repaired and rebuilt. Beside Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, you may want visit the smaller and lesser known temples of the Khmer Empire in the spawling 400 sq km Angkor Archaeological Park. In order to visit the many temples and ruins in the vicinity, you will need at least a 3-day pass which costs USD40 and a 7-day pass USD60.

Some of the temples you want to visit are: Pre Rup, Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre, Preah Khan, Preah Neak Poan, Ta Som and Eastern Mebon.

Hokkaido Self Drive Holiday

The photo of sunflowers field in Hokkaido was taken during our first trip to Hokkiado. It was in 2007, our first trip to Hokkaido, so we decided to book a 9-Day Self Drive Package with Prime Travel at the Natas Fair. Hokkaido self drive tour was not so popular back then and the discount of several hundred dollars per couple at the Natas travel fair was just too tempting not to make a decision on the spot. So if you are planning to visit Hokkaido this summer, why not go visit the Natas Fair at the Singapore Expo.

Do's & Don'ts at Chek Jawa

Due the oil spill in 2010, most of the flora and fauna of Chek Jawa has been affected. In fact, the marine flora of the wetlands has been damaged and "there is really nothing much to see"! It may take several years for the ecosystem to recover... Let's not do further damage to it.
